About Us!

Since its inception in the mystical year of 2004, our biennial extravaganza has been a beacon of merriment and mayhem at the Grotto in the heart of eastern Manitoba. Hosted by the gleeful folk of Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church in Cooks Creek, located 30 minutes from Winnipeg, Manitoba, our festival is a jubilant fusion of medieval marvels and Ukrainian flair!

Once every two turns of the seasons, our humble village transforms into a bustling tapestry of history and chivalry. The last festival in 2018 left hearts yearning and goblets empty, but fear not, for our next gathering is nigh!

Step into our enchanted grounds and be whisked away to a world where knights don armor, jesters jest, and dragons… well, we’re still working on those. From the thunderous clash of jousting tournaments to the precision of archery competitions, there’s adventure aplenty for every brave soul.

But wait, there’s more! Delight in the vibrance of Ukrainian culture with traditional dances, songs that’ll make your heart dance, and a medieval-inspired feast fit for a king (or queen!). Young squires and maidens can partake in whimsical children’s activities, while the village market brims with crafted treasures from far-off lands (Manitoba).

And let us not forget the grandeur of our chess tournament, where minds clash like swords in a battle of wits. Plus, prepare to be dazzled by our dazzling pageantry, where lords and ladies strut their stuff in a display of medieval finery.

So, whether you seek adventure, merriment, or simply a chance to don your finest doublet and hose or gown, join us as we celebrate the magic of the Middle Ages at Cooks Creek Medieval Festival], where the past comes alive, and memories are forged amidst the echoes of history. Come, be part of the enchantment, and embark on a journey through time unlike any other.

Forsooth, 'tis an event not to be missed!

Saint George

The Courageous Defender of Faith and Land

Gather ’round, noble lords and ladies, as we embark on a journey through time to celebrate the gallant deeds of Saint George, the revered patron saint of knights and protectors, whose valiant spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all who seek courage and righteousness.

In the enchanted lands of old, where dragons roamed and peril lurked around every corner, there lived a knight of unrivaled braveryโ€”Saint George. Hailing from Cappadocia, a region in present-day Turkey, Saint George was born to Greek Christian parents and lived during the tumultuous times of the Roman Empire, around the 3rd century AD.

Saint George’s tale takes a tragic turn as he faced persecution for his Christian faith. Refusing to renounce his beliefs, he endured imprisonment, torture, and ultimately martyrdom for his unwavering devotion to Christ. Legend holds that he met his end with steadfast courage, inspiring countless believers with his unyielding faith.

“Unleash the power within you, and you shall conquer every dragon on your path”
